The Veiled Sea is the setting in which Endless Ocean Luminous takes place. It is an unexplored ocean that contains a number of known and unknown species, and changes with each dive. Tens of thousands of years ago it was once inhabited by the Oannes people.
It acts as the main stage of the game, through which each of the other stages can be unlocked and then accessed.
This region contains over 500 species, both new and returning, several of which are thought to be long-extinct or mythical. The long-extinct species in particular were a major reason why the Veiled Sea was not accessible to the public. The creatures inhabiting the Veiled Sea are covered in a mysterious bioluminescent algae, which obscures their true appearance until said algae has been collected and removed by the player. The waters themselves are also notable for containing unusually docile sea life. Coral known as World Coral also help the local ecosystem.
