After it has been unlocked, the Phantom can be seen in the Mermaid's Ballroom of Valka Castle. However, it appears only at night.

How to Find It

After the main storyline of Endless Ocean 2 is completed, the player's notebook will remark upon several reports of a "ghost" in Ciceros Strait's Valka Castle. At night, the player and Oceana must dive into the Castle, and when about half-way up Spiral Tower Oceana suggests searching for the reported "ghost". The player expresses trepidation, but Oceana insists that they press on. After a mysterious, unknown entity rushes by a few times, evading sight and documentation (as well as spooking Oceana and the player, earning some teasing from GG), the player and Oceana chase the creature into the Mermaid's Ballroom. There, it is revealed that the "ghost" is actually this mysterious, jet-black ray with a strange mark on its belly that is said to resemble the royal crest of the Valka family.

Introduction

Oceana: "So the dreaded ghost turns out to be nothing more than a black manta ray. It's jet black, so it's no surprise that someone mistook it for a giant shadow. So much for ghosts! What's so funny? You think I was scared, don't you? I knew all along that ghosts don't exist. I wasn't afraid! I swear! OK, maybe a little."

Jean-Eric: "Can you hear me? It's Jean-Eric. That's the legendary Phantom! Oceana seems to be afraid of him, for some reason. Did you see the pattern on his belly? They say it looks just like the royal insignia of Valka Castle. Supposedly, this manta continues to patrol the lands that once belonged to the castle as if possessed by the late prince. But that's just a rumor, helped along by coincidence."

Behavior

The Phantom slowly and gracefully swims in a loop around the ballroom. Its trivia can be obtained by feeding it, unlike with its base species.
