Sera is the player's AI companion in Endless Ocean Luminous, who acts as their tour guide through the Veiled Sea.
In-Game[]
Character[]
Role in Project Aegis[]

Sera's exact position is unknown, but she is an AI likely created by and for the staff at the Project Aegis initiative. She is primarily responsible for tutoring new recruits to the project and informing them about the Veiled Sea itself. She appears to have a direct connection with the company's headquarters, allowing her to relay information between them and the research divers, although she sometimes is denied access to certain information.
Otherwise, Sera detects unusual underwater activity within her surroundings and informs research divers about it. She also reads Creature Log descriptions out loud for the player.
Plot Relevance[]
The player first meets Sera at the start of the story campaign, where she guides them through tutorials on movement, salvaging, tagging, and scanning creatures. She takes the time to explain Project Aegis' mission and from there guides the player, alongside Daniel, towards accomplishing that goal.
Personality[]
Being an AI, Sera does not have much of a personality, reacting to unusual events or Daniel's witty remarks with a matter-of-fact tone. That said, her speech patterns are generally courteous and informative. She has been programmed with a vast knowledge of the Veiled Sea as well as company protocol, which she is always sure to inform her human partners about as soon as she possibly can.
Relationships[]
Sera boasts a very neutral relationship with both the player and Daniel, viewing them as assets to the ultimate goal of Project Aegis and praising them for jobs well done, though her lack of personality prevents her from forming any emotional connections to them.

Notes[]
- Sera is the first voiced character in the Endless Ocean series, utilizing a text-to-speech program to communicate.
- The voice of this program changes between localizations, though all use feminine voices.
- Several of Sera's names in different translations play on her role as an AI assistant. For instance, her name "OceanIA" in French and Italian, and "MarIA" in Spanish, play off of each language's respective acronym for artificial intelligence.
