Spoilers for Endless Ocean Luminous ahead!
The Mystery Board is an ancient artifact salvaged in Endless Ocean Luminous, with ties to the Oannes tribes who once lived above the Veiled Sea. It contains 99 mysteries that can be solved throughout gameplay, with legend hinting that solving them all will unlock something major.
By finding certain objects, completing objectives, and finding various locations, the board will glow before one of its squares is unlocked.

The player unearths the Mystery Board.
In Chapter 1 of the story campaign, the player manages to nab the Mystery Board while racing Daniel to find salvages within a coral-covered area. Everyone is confused by what exactly this slab of stone is; Daniel suspects that it's merely a cutting board, while Sera initially misconstrues it as a chessboard due to its carved square pattern. Daniel admits that he's partially in this job for the treasure hunting, and suspects that the player may have found the legendary treasure he was looking for. However, after cross-referencing its ancient text to Project Aegis' database, Sera confirms it to be a relic from the Oannes' ancient civilization and asks the player to send it to HQ.
The completed Mystery Board reveals the player's path forward.
Later on, the group gets the Mystery Board back while being tutored on tagging, with its true purpose having been discovered. Daniel suspects that the squares will glow once their respective mysteries have been solved, though Sera doubts this. However, the former's theory is proven correct after the player scans Raja Emas, effectively solving the first mystery.
Completion of the story mode is locked behind solving the 99 mysteries, which leads the player to the allegedly dangerous Valley of Sorrows. There, the Board is revealed to be a map to Lanza Oannes, a tool required to help repair the World Coral.
