Marzia is a minor character in Endless Ocean 2, acting as the catalyst for the Memento quest.

In-Game[]

Character[]

Plot Relevance[]

Marzia is only seen during the events of the Memento quest, which is unlocked in the Notebook once the player has completed chapter 2 of the main storyline. Once this point has been reached, an item called the Classic Guitar will become available to purchase from Nancy.

After the player has bought the guitar from Nancy and attempts to play it, Oceana approaches them and tells them about a diving-guide request that seems pretty urgent. When the player accepts this request, Marzia arrives and asks the player if they've purchased a guitar recently. Oceana directs Marzia to the Classic Guitar, which is currently next to the cabin.

The three go over to inspect it, and Marzia has her suspicions confirmed: the guitar previously belonged to her late father, and washed up on the shore of Ciceros Strait 20 years ago after he vanished. After explaining this to the player and Oceana, she then asks for their help in finding the Wreck of the Pride of Athens, which is the ship her father was on when he disappeared. Oceana and the player agree to help her, with Oceana noting that she knows what it's like to want to know more about a missing father.

The player then takes Marzia to Ciceros Strait and the pair heads to the Pride of Athens (at coordinates E-1). They peer into the wheelhouse, and it's suggested that they try prying the door open to get inside. However, before they can make any progress, Thanatos appears. The player is directed to distract him using the Pulsar while Marzia opens the door to the wheelhouse on her own, and subsequently finds the only item of her father's left on the ship - an old suitcase. The two then make an emergency escape.

After returning to Nineball Island, Oceana inquires about the contents of the suitcase, remarking that it doesn't look like any water leaked in. Marzia says that the majority of its contents are mundane, save for a musical score that her father wrote for the guitar. Oceana asks the player if they want to try performing it, and Marzia enthusiastically agrees with the idea.

Marzia, the player, and Oceana go to the end of the pier, where the player character sits cross-legged with the guitar while they play, with Oceana sitting next to them and Marzia standing on their other side, lost in thought as she stares at the ocean.

Once the player finishes the piece, Marzia thanks them and says that she wants them to keep the guitar. Oceana, startled, asks if she's sure, to which Marzia replies that her father would be happy knowing that the guitar is in the hands of people who love the ocean as much as he did.

Marzia quietly reassures her father that she'll be okay and that they'll meet again someday, before departing from Nineball Island. Despite stating that she'll return if she ever wants to hear her father's music played again, she is never seen again after this encounter.

Personality[]

Though her character is not given much dialogue, Marzia is demonstrated to be a kind and relaxed person. If the player fails her mission, she shows no anger, only slight disappointment, before reassuring that she'll be back for another attempt soon.

She shows a deep fondness for her father, as is demonstrated by her ability to immediately recognize one of his possessions that she has been seeking for 20 years, and the various comments she makes under her breath directed towards him. Because of this, her decision to allow L&L to keep her father's guitar demonstrates a level of reconciliation she was able to achieve with her past, as she believes he would be happy to see his guitar in the hands of people who cared about the sea as much as he did.

Notes[]

  • Much like with female clients, Marzia does not have her own model, but instead uses model assets of the female player character (face, hair, suit, etc.).
