Character[]
Role in L&L Diving Service[]
Once GG has joined L&L, the player can speak to him on Nineball Island to accept salvage requests from clients.
When diving with GG, the player gains five more slots to hold salvages in their bag. Additionally, when spoken to during a dive, he will reveal how many salvageable items are within 100 feet of the player's current position, as well as say how many new salvages are left to be discovered in the current area, a helpful ability for those looking to complete their Collection.
Plot Relevance[]
Before the events of Endless Ocean 2's plot, GG was part of a salvaging company with his best friend. The two heard about rumors of the Pacifica Treasure and swore to find it one day, but his friend was put into a coma after a diving accident. His friend's family did not have enough money to pay for treatment, so GG decided to do freelance salvaging to help them out, becoming famous for all the "crazy stunts" he pulled off to pay his friend's medical bills. He also swore to find the Pacifica Treasure on his friend's behalf.
L&L first encounter GG when they arrive in Ciceros Strait. He is convinced that the Pacifica Treasure is located there and is determined to find it first, proposing a bet before leaving in search of the treasure. He is seen again shortly after the player discovers the Triton Village Ruins, only to quickly swim away when he senses Thanatos' presence, forfeiting the bet he had made earlier.
GG is not seen again until later on, when he appears at Nineball Island unannounced, having heard about the progress the company had made since they last spoke. He explains that he is following a lead to the Cortica River in his ongoing search for the treasure and wants to enlist L&L's help, which they reluctantly agree to. He helps the player explore the river and uncover the Twilight Temple, and remains a permanent member of L&L Diving Service afterward, helping them explore the Zahhab Region Depths, uncover the Cavern of the Gods, and discover, but not take, the Pacifica Treasure.
During the events of the "Pride of the Salvage King" quest, which unlocks after the main storyline is completed, he reveals that he and his former salvaging partner were intent on finding the Spartan Treasure, before his injury put their efforts on hold indefinitely. He expresses his desire to find the Spartan Treasure to give to his former partner's family, and informs the player that FF is the younger brother of said partner, with whom he shares a somewhat tense relationship as a result of the accident.
Personality[]
GG has a very flamboyant, gaudy, and at times arrogant personality. He comes off as very full of himself at first, but proves to be a helpful ally upon joining the team. He wears a lot of jewelry and dives in an elaborately patterned wetsuit. He gives the player sensationalized titles such as "Midnight Asteroid" for their work. In every localization of the game except North American English, he believes "G" to be a lucky letter, using words starting with "G" wherever possible, which are highlighted in orange to denote the importance he places on them.
He has a noted love of treasure, and gold specifically, as is seen when he notices the player wearing the Servant's Ring after picking it up in Valka Castle. He is able to determine the history behind said ring just by looking at it, indicative of a vast knowledge on treasure appraisal.
This famous American diver likes to show off in a flamboyantly decorated wetsuit—but don’t let his vanity fool you, Gaston is very good at his job. He’s also in search of the Pacifica Treasure, and may get in your way at first, but will eventually join up to pursue a common goal.

Notes[]
Not including other divers on guided tours, GG is the only available male diving partner, as Jean-Eric is unable to dive.
Depending on which translation of the game is being played, GG's motivation for finding the Pacifica Treasure changes. In standard English and Japanese, for example, after explaining his desire to find the treasure because of his friend, he tells the player he was "just kidding", and his only real motivation is the money and notoriety.
Despite this inconsistency, the fact that GG's friend is in the hospital and he has been paying his medical costs remains the same throughout all translations, as is seen in the "Pride of the Salvage King" quest. Therefore, his decision to tell the player he was only joking about the Pacifica Treasure story could simply be an attempt by him to keep up his cool-guy persona after expressing emotional vulnerability, rather than a difference in backstory between translations.
