The false killer whale partner is the fifth befriendable cetacean partner in Endless Ocean 2, encountered during the Be the Best Trainer quest. They are distinguished from regular false killer whales by the large X-shaped scar on their head.
Description
In-Game
"The false killer whale, marked with an X, that you befriended in the sunken Valka Castle.
It can find rare items using its knowledge of the castle and keen sense of smell."
Appearance
This false killer whale has an X-shaped scar on his head due to an injury sustained during the false killer whale extermination of Ciceros Strait, but is an average member of his species in other aspects of his appearance.
History
This false killer whale was, sadly, hunted in Ciceros Strait several years before the player encounters him. All false killer whales in the region were targeted by fishermen who believed that they were interfering with the fishing business in the area. This specific whale was the only surviving member of his family.
He is, understandably, afraid of humans due to his tragic past.
Befriending
How to Befriend
During the "Be the Best Trainer" quest, Finley will tell the player of this whale and his location. The player will have to go to Valka Castle to find him.
He can originally be found swimming at the top of the Spiral Tower, but he flees to the collapsed gallery to the East when approached. The player will then have to pursue him around Valka Castle - from Spiral Tower, to the collapsed gallery, to the Armory, to the Treasure Vault - before stopping in the Mermaid's Ballroom, where the other False Killer Whale swims.
This time, the dolphin does not swim away, but the player will notice that he's critically injured, and subsequently heal him with the Pulsar. After that, the whale overcomes his fear, and he becomes the player's partner.
Quest Description
The quest pertaining to this whale is titled "Whale at the Castle" in the player's notebook. It opens up with:
"According to Finley, there's a False Killer Whale in Valka Castle."
Once the player investigates, the quest will update with:
"It gets spooked and swims off as soon as you approach. Search everywhere in the castle to find him."
After the player saves the whale, the quest will conclude:
"You befriended the false killer whale after healing its wounds!"
