Plot Relevance[]

Though FF plays no part in the main story, he is the primary drive of the "Pride of the Salvage King" quest.

After the player has finished the events of Chapter 2 of the main story, FF will arrive at Nineball Island once the player talks to Jean-Eric. Jean-Eric explains that FF wants the player to find something for him, and FF clarifies when he gets there that it's a trial to see how good of a salvager the player is. Over the course of this conversation, it is revealed that GG and FF have some kind of history between them, but this is not elaborated upon.

FF's first few tasks don't function like salvage requests; instead, they function like typical salvages, in that the player has to collect them and get them appraised by Nancy before they know what they've found. His first request is for the player to find the Tourmaline Ring in Ciceros Strait, and once that's been completed he asks them to get the German Pottery (also in Ciceros Strait) for an anonymous rich couple.

A different client, named Kiyoko, asks for the player to find the Explorer's Treasure before FF shows up again, but he shows up once more to task the player with finding the Noble Cargo in Valka Castle. The Noble Cargo, however, functions differently than the previous two requests, with a red flash rather than white.

After retrieving the Noble Cargo, FF thanks the player and departs with it, which prompts GG to tell the player his relationship to FF and the reason he continues to salvage: he used to be diving partners with FF's older brother, before his "accident". They were searching both for the Pacifica Treasure and the Spartan Treasure together, and they had nearly found the latter treasure before the accident interrupted his search. He then asks the player to come with him to retrieve the treasure from a specific cave in Ciceros Strait. The pair searches, but doesn't find the treasure. As it turns out upon another visit from FF, he "forgot" that this specific treasure only appears on the night of and nights surrounding a full moon, which is information he was given by his older brother's notes. FF also bears a message from his mother: GG has paid more than enough of his of his old partner's medical bills, and she wants him to stop paying for them further. After he departs, GG informs the player that he had been wiring money to cover his old partner's medical costs without FF's knowledge, and pulling stunts, as well as becoming famous, was how he earned enough money to cover the costs. FF resents GG for this.

When the player and GG successfully find the Spartan Treasure (which functions as a normal treasure that needs to be evaluated by Nancy), FF arrives back on the island. GG insists that he wants FF to have the treasure, as he wouldn't have found it without his old partner's notes. After some minor arguing, FF realizes that GG isn't backing down, and that GG is genuinely trying to help - so he accepts, and departs Nineball Island after a little more playful back-and-forth between him and GG.

FF comes back with several requests after that, some of which are quest items that don't require the use of the Multisensor, and the other three of which he only has the chart for but no location. The latter three of these are the Silver Shield located in Gatama Atoll, the Gold Armor located in Ciceros Strait, and the Platinum Sword located in the Zahhab Region.

A tip from FF is also how the player ends up being able to find the Dark Statue.

Personality[]

Generally cocky and jokey in demeanor, FF demonstrates a sort of rivalry shown through his interactions with GG, in which he is always trying to best, and makes slight jabs at him. GG expresses annoyance at him after an encounter, in which he states that he is acting "just like his big brother", implying that FF acts the way he does as a result of his relationship with his older brother, GG's old salvaging partner. FF also acts somewhat antagonistically towards GG, which GG explains as being because FF blames him for his brother's accident. They seem to part ways on a slightly better note after finding the Spartan Treasure, but there remains some tension between the two.
