Description[]
This coelacanth is unbelievably large. Who knows how many years it took to reach this impressive size? Looking at it makes you feel the weight of the ages and even a sense of timelessness. The feeling of solemnity leaves you in no doubt that this is the emperor of those living fossils, the mighty coelacanths.
This coelacanth is unbelievably large. How many years could it have taken to reach this impressive size? Looking at it makes you feel as if you're being told a story by an ancient deity. The figure of this creature is so majestic, that surely this must be the emperor of these living fossils known as coelacanths. ?

Trivia[]
 [Mysterious species]
The coelacanth was thought to have become extinct during the Cretaceous period, 65 - 140 million years ago. How was this fish able to live through the worldwide extinction which wiped out the dinosaurs, and then survive for tens of millions of years without being discovered?

 【Mysterious Species】
Coelacanths, as well as many other lobe-finned fishes, were thought to have lived and become extinct during the Cretaceous period, 65-140 million years ago. How was this fish able to live through the worldwide extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs, surviving for tens of millions of years since then, completely unseen by man? ...they have no words with which to explain.
 ?
 ESPECIE MISTERIOSA

Description[]

"This coelacanth is unbelievably large. Who knows how many years it took to reach this impressive size? Looking at it makes you feel the weight of the ages and even a sense of timelessness. Location[]

Endless Ocean 2[]

This creature can be found in the Cavern of the Gods, at coordinates B-2 (southwest) in the Pillars of Shadow, though only after the Cavern has been re-opened. It typically hovers around the middle levels of the room, slightly south of the trapdoor into the Celestial Mausoleum. Jean-Eric implies the Living Fossil was discovered fifty years prior to the events of the game.

      Endless Ocean Luminous[]

The Emperor can be found in deep sea and historic ruin sections of the Veiled Sea.

      Dialogue[]

      Endless Ocean 2[]

      Favorite Creature[]

Jean-Eric: "Look at the size of that coelacanth! It must be the Living Fossil! It was briefly seen over 50 years ago, and the story spread all over the world. I never dreamed I would see it beyond old, blurred photographs. How old must it actually be to have grown so immense?"

      Behavior[]

It swims and hovers around slowly and gracefully, alongside the other coelacanths in the Pillars of Shadow. Much like its base species, its trivia can be unlocked by taking a picture of it.
